I wish to pursue a career in painting. My passion for art began in the late 1990s, when I discovered graffiti culture and started studying digital music. In the mid-2000s, I opened a graffiti shop and art gallery, which reignited my interest in fine art. Following a brief career in journalism, which included reporting for the Evening Standard, Londoner’s Diary and Architects’ Journal, I moved to Paris in 2012 to work on a documentary project about street art. This experience greatly honed my street photography and photo-editing skills, and you can see the results at streetartparis.com.
I developed this work partly while working at a coworking space alongside the graphic designer Yvonne Feldmann, the architect Olivier Sinet and the photographer Sergio Grazia.
Since 2014, I have made multiple visits to São Paulo, Brazil, where I have been involved with the artist-run space A7MA Gallery. This has greatly informed my fine arts practice, as has keeping a sketchbook, producing zines and participating in the ZAT (Zona Autônima Temporária) art residency alongside artists such as Tinho, Jerry Batista and Enivo. Most recently, I have started painting canvases with acrylics, and this is the direction I wish to pursue.
